A traditional Mayan handicraft, the specialty of small highland villages of Guatemala, such as Totonicapán, Chichicastenango, Quiché. The bright colors and the feathers of this tropical forest bird are unique.
Our wooden masks are hand carved in white pine wood, using the technique of Vaciado, by artisans from Guatemala highlands. The elaboration of wooden masks need mastering in carving and painting. The carvings are worked with wood chisels. The skills are passed down within the same family from generation to generation.
