Proven quality, durability and compliance

Safety and durability are an integral part of our approach. Both of our hammock types have been tested by an independent organization in order to meet the applicable European standards.

These tests were carried out at the end of 2022 by the specialist “Intertek | Total quality Assured”. Initially conducted in the context of distributing our products through a major European retailer (Nature & Découverte), these analyses confirmed the compliance of our two types of hammocks and hanging chairs – Visit our Boutique.

Chemical analyses & health

REACH: Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Picto

This regulation, adopted by the European Parliament and the Council on December 18, 2006, aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment against the risks that chemical substances may pose. The REACH regulation places the responsibility for proving the safety of chemical substances on the companies that manufacture, import, and use them. It is designed to register, evaluate, authorise, and restrict the use of chemicals within the European Union.

ISO standards and regulatory framework

ISO 18254-1 standard Picto

This international standard specifies test methods for analysing certain properties of fibre-reinforced composite materials. ISO 18254-1 provides a framework for evaluating the performance and durability of these materials, ensuring that they meet specific quality and safety requirements.

Frequently asked questions about quality and compliance

Are Mayan Dreams hammocks tested?

Yes. Our hammocks underwent resistance tests and chemical analyses carried out at the end of 2022 by an independent organization, Intertek, in the context of their distribution by a major European retailer.

What types of tests were performed?

Stability, static load, and endurance tests were carried out, along with spectrometric analyses aimed at detecting potentially harmful substances. These analyses confirmed that our products meet the highest requirements regarding the absence of heavy metals, carcinogenic dyes, and formaldehyde in both the fabrics of our Mayan hammocks and the cotton cords used to produce our net hammocks.

Do the hammocks contain substances that are harmful to health?

No. The analyses confirmed the absence of heavy metals, carcinogenic dyes, and formaldehyde in the cotton fibres used, both for net hammocks and for Mayan fabric hammocks.

Why are these tests important for an artisanal hammock?

These tests help ensure the safety, durability, and quality of the hammocks, while also confirming compliance with European regulatory requirements for both indoor and outdoor use.
